Site History and Goals.
This site started as a typical “Individual Owner” first attempt at a website. However because the site contained a Gallery sector it soon started to expand in all directions and develop to suit what other Middlebridge owners and enthusiasts wanted from the site, I have attempted below to illustrate the site's progression.
1) Within a few months of hosting the site it had developed into MESS (Middlebridge Enthusiasts Scimitar Site) it was obvious from the emails received that people wanted info, Data, History, Events and For Sale-Wanted and more from a common source bearing in mind that the huge majority of site visitors have direct connections with Middlebridge in some way.
2 The site has now started to attract Middlebridge owners and enthusiasts via Google etc and this has helped find cars that have never before been seen, these cars are now catalogued in the Gallery sector with pictures and a write up.
3) The site has enabled several “to date” ex-Middlebridge staff members to make contact with people that share a mutual interest for the first time in 20 years; these people are at the moment supplying data that will soon find its way to the history area of the site.
4) As the site has now developed and grown beyond belief I felt that I needed the help of someone with the same Marque dedication, enthusiasms, determination and the same Middlebridge Goals as myself…
5) Dr Dan Mitchell (Dan) and I have been appointed joint Middlebridge registrars are now quietly beavering away with the help of George Sampford towards our next target in the quest to unite a group of likeminded enthusiasts and hopefully to one day stage a large Middlebridge event for owners and anyone with M.B. links (Watch this space for updates).
6) The above event to celebrate 20 years MB has been suggested by several owners and we will be talking with the RSSOC very soon. (Watch this space.)
7) Curborough was the venue chosen to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Middlebridge Scimitar and no-one was more shocked than me when we had a total of twenty five cars lined up to celebrate the event!! (we even had cars come from Germany and Scotland) ;o)
I would like to take this oppertunity to thank every one who attended and made it such a memorable occasion.
8) Just prior to the end of the 20th anniversary event George and myself addressed the MB members to say "Thank You" and to announce the innaugural Middlebridge event being staged in Nottingham City Centre, George had put a lot of time and effort into this event and a BIG thank you to all that made the trip, the location was fantastic, the cars looked great lined up, the crowds flocked in and best of all we had many senior members of Middlebridge Scimitar Ltd visit us and chin-wag the day away, we are staying in close contact with our new friends and will be arranging a meet/meal next year and hopefully more Middlebridge specific events in the future. (Proof if it were needed with regards to the power of the internet and the MESS).
I would dearly like to think the site has helped with the following- car prices are now going up steadily and are ranging from 6.5 to 10k at the moment, we have also had several Middlebridge specific articles in the Classic Press and I have a list of people wanting vehicles 13, I think this all looks good for an even more sucessful 2010. ;o)
9) Now for a real jewel in the Middlebridge crown, After many months of speaking with ex Joint MD of Middlebridge Scimitar Ltd, Mr J McCauley confirmed rumours that there was an individual Middlebridge badge identity that was intended to adorn the new car but for many reasons it never came to fruition. ( The full story can be read in the downloads area) We have been working hard on this project for 12 months now and a production run of 100 top quality "British Made" grille badges is due for completion by end July 2010. The Middlebridge finally gets it's unique identity after 21 years!!.
10) Take a look at the Autokarna Event and I'm sure you will agree we now seem to be really pushing our marque forward. Please note the following- Unique Middlebridge event, Enthusiastic owners in attendance, Great line up of cars, Middlebridge MD cutting our 21st cake + much more.
11) Yet another milestone for the Middlebridge marque, we were invited to Nottingham for the heritage day celebrations and formed a large part in the official proceedings. we had 14 cars lined up and every car was displaying the new Middlebridge badge which was great to see at long last, we also had the Classic Car Press on site for the day and have had plenty of press coverage in the weeks following the event..
12) I would say that 2010 was the year the we really turned the corner with many enthusiastic owners, a waiting list for cars, our new identity, growing web presence, prices rising, more marque awareness and plenty more ideas in store for the future!! (Many thanks to all that helped us in the past year and lets hope we can continue our quest in 2011.
13) 2011 has arrived and the MESS "Middlebridge Enthusiasts Scimitar Set" (George Dan and Myself) have set ourselves marque targets for the year ahead which will also be a year of consolidation for us, we will be forwarding our individual identity still further with the help of the RSSOC. ( Many thanks to Phil Howard RSSOC Chairman for all of his help and support). We will once again be arranging our now Annual Nottingham Event as well as being at Curborough. There will also be two MB's forwarding the marque at the Prestigious Silverstone Classic Event in July. We are also hoping to have a very special event late in the year but more details of this as and when details are formalised.
Once again many thanks
Mick
