NEC (Footman James Classic Car Show) 2012

16/11/2012 - 18/11/2012

Location: Birmingham

Yet another milestone!!! The Middlebridge Scimitar has been accepted as a Classic Car in its own right by the organisers of the NEC Footman James Classic Car Show and has been offered a stand at this years Classic Car Show. In the past the Middlebridge Scimitar has historically been displayed under the RSSOC banner as they are close cousins. The Middlebridge stand will be adjacent to the RSSOC and we will, of course, do all we can to promote the Club, actively seek new membership and of course sell the Middlebridge version of the Scimitar to anyone that will listen.

For me there are some very significant positives to come out of this both for the Middlebridge marque and for the Club. The Middlebridge version of the Scimitar is assured of a presence at a major Classic Car Event. The Middlebridge, having its own stand, lessens the burden on the Club to try and please everyone. For reasons of space, last year, there were no GTE cars on display at the NEC Show and space is always an issue at the NEC with the Club having no control over the size of their display area.

The Middlebridge caters for the SE6 GTE shape in that respect. A second display stand also affords the Scimitar marque double the presence at a major show. After receiving a letter, penned by Middlebridge stalwart, George Sampford, with sterling input from Middlebridge Registrars, Mick Gaughran and Dan Mitchell, pointing out the 450-plus differences between the Reliant Scimitar and the Middlebridge version, the NEC authorities have agreed that the two manufacturers should have separate stands, although the RSSOC is the club that caters for both versions.
