IOW Classic Car Extravaganza 08 - 11th September 2023

I missed this event last year due to illness and have spent much time hearing how good it was and being teased (in fun) with awesome pictures and stories. This made the 2023 event a 'must do' for me and I have to say the event lived up to the hype with 2,000+ Classic Cars on display.

Most of us drove south from various areas on the Friday Morning in blistering heat and met up at a hotel in Portsmouth, we then headed in convoy to the Ferry to await our sailing. After a quick jaunt across the Solent we disembarked and headed straight to our hotel (Yelf's Hotel in Ryde) and needless to say agreed to meet at 7.00 pm for our first evening meal with a few drinks to wash it down.

Next morning, Saturday 07.00 we all met in the hotel lobby went to the car park and drove in convoy to our seafront event location, once we had set up we all did the 20 minute walk back to the hotel for a full brekky and slowly work our way back to the stand while perusing the other classics on the promenade en-route. At the end of play it was back to the hotel car park and decide on the type of evening meal, Chinese, Greek, Steak, Thai, Italian etc. Matt and I even sat on the sea front one evening with local Fish n Chips, a lovely meal in an equally awesome location.

We followed the same routing on the Sunday but later in the day we did have some rain which initially was somewhat welcomed after the sizzling Saturday both day and night, I'm delighted to say that everyone did the trip with no dramas and we should all be meeting up again in two weeks at Sywell Northants for the annual Pistons & Props event.

Many Thanks to Alan and James Cavendish Tribe, Bruce & Allison Beauchamp, Alan & Sandra Timmis, Paul & Kate Crocker, Pete & Marie Humphries and of course George and Maggie for making this event a real one to remember and one that Matt & myself would love to come back to again. Quite possibly in 2024 me thinks...

Special thanks to Alan Cavendish Tribe for organising the whole event, Thank you from us all !!
